Indonesian Coated Steel Breaks into the US Market, Witnessed by the Minister of Industry
The 18th of July 2025 marked an important moment for the national steel industry. PT Tata Metal Lestari, together with PT Krakatau Steel and PT Krakatau Baja Industri, officially launched the export of coated steel and color-coated steel to the United States — shipped directly from Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta. Held at one of Indonesia's busiest gateways to the world, the send-off brought together producers, partners, and government officials to celebrate a shipment that represents the combined strength of the national steel value chain, from upstream raw materials to finished, export-ready coated products.

The export send-off was witnessed by the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, accompanied by the President Director of PT Krakatau Steel, Mr. Muhammad Akbar Djohan, along with invited guests from across the industry and government. The presence of the Minister himself signalled the national significance of the achievement — a recognition that the success of Indonesian steel exporters contributes directly to the country's industrial development, its trade balance, and its standing in the global manufacturing community.
